Our Story

The Stapelbroek family lived in the Netherlands where they worked as blacksmiths and farmed on a small piece of land. After the second world war Stapelbroek, along with his family decided to immigrate to Brazil, working with other immigrating families. After initially settling in Holambra, the Stapelbroek family decided to leave Holambra for Não-Me-Toque. Johannes Bernardus Stapelbroek along with Gerrit Jan Rauwers arrived in Não-Me-Toque – Rio Grande do Sul where they founded a small blacksmith, whose main activity was to assemble and maintain agricultural machinery imported from Europe. Stapelbroek and Rauwers realised the need to adapt these agricultural machines to suit Brazils farming environment

The agreement between Stapelbroek and Rawers ended. Stapelbroek and his sons began to manufacture agricultural machinery. They then launched the first sprayer from Brazil with wheels, suspended shanks and steerable. It was the beginning of the tradition from Stara in creating solutions for farmers. As the demand for Stara products increased, Stara also increased its structure size by moving into a building of 8.000m2 , where it still remains.

During this time Stara released the agricultural front loader, the PADs, which became the leader in the Brazilian market. To increase its product line, Stara made partnerships with various companies. The first one being Vicon and then Yomel, Amazon Werk and Sfil Industrial Agrícola Fortaleza Ltd.

Johannes Bernardus Stapelbroek handed over the company to his daughter, son-in-law and his 3 grandchildren.

Stara celebrated its 50th birthday.

To expand its market share in South Africa, Stara partnered with Kempston Agri making Kempston Agri the new importer of Stara Agricultural Machinery into Southern Africa.
